I came across this classic old picture of San Clemente Pier the other day taken back in 1948. I love the history of San Clemente, from Ole Hanson purchasing 2000 acres on the southernmost tip of Orange County way back in 1925 (officially incorporated as a city in 1928), to Richard Nixon purchasing a home overlooking Cottons Point in 1969, becoming known as the “Western White House” and to the modern day surf mecca it has become! I will do some more in depth posts in the near future on the history of our wonderful little beach town but for now check out just how much things have changed, while at the same time they have remained the same here in San Clemente!
