Get ready for the 17th annual Doheny Blues Festival taking place in beautiful Dana Point this weekend! Southern California has been experiencing record heat all week and although it is expected to cool a little for this weekend`s festivities it should be absolutely gorgeous out. Saturdays highs are expected to be in the low 80`s so make sure and dust off those surf shorts and Rainbow Sandals. Also be sure to use that sunblock or hat, stay hydrated and most importantly relax and enjoy the music!
Here is a brief history of the event…
In 1998, Omega Events launched an annual blues festival at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, CA. Sixteen years later, Omega Events is recognized as one of the nation’s top blues promoters, having been named “Best Promoter” by blues music’s premier organization, The Blues Foundation in Memphis, TN.
Attendees enjoy this inviting festival layout, highlighted by three stages of alternating music, an international Food Court, an eclectic Vendor Village with 50+ unique booths, Microbrew Tasting, and our Kidz EcoFest with educational exhibits for the younger music fans.
From Grammy winners to music legends, Doheny has been host to many of the top names in rock, soul & blues music, including B.B. King, The Black Crowes, Bonnie Raitt, Crosby, Stills & Nash, John Fogerty, Brian Setzer, Al Green, Etta James, Keb’ Mo’, Ben Harper, Jonny Lang and Los Lobos, amongst others.
This years feature acts include some of the biggest names in the business, including Gregg Allman, The Doobie Brothers, and many more so be sure to make your way down to “DoHo” and check out the scene. It will definitely be a weekend to remember!
